Around this time of year, this is what we do - we set New Years Reso....wait no, lets not use that phrase, please!
New Years Resolutions are like spitting in the wind to me. I can NOT recall one time where I said New Years Resolution - and it actually came out right.
Setting goals? Sure, I can set I have set goals and reached them.
Having dreams? Even better!
I think dreams and goals work hand in hand. You set a dream, or have a dream rather, and have goals to help you attain those dreams. Milestones if you will.
I see some flaws in just "setting goals" as well. My feeling is a biblical principle that I drilled into my head and that goes like this.
"without a vision, the people will perish." (Proverbs 29:18).
I think you need an overall vision that you are absolutely sold out too. One that you get so excited about and so amped up for that you cant live without it.
In my upcoming book, "Setting Goals" I discuss "power feelings" and how they will help you get into that mindset of being a winner from past experiences. Power feelings drive from my experience in sales and any competitive sport I have played. When I was a pitcher, If my curve ball was clicking that day, I knew I could win easily. I had the confidence I needed because of past experiences telling me - your going to drop this one "off the table" and no one is oging to be able to touch it!
You ever have so much confidence because of past experiences telling you that you are going to just win it easily? Kind of like, I climbed that mountain already - Im already at the top - if something come sup below me - BAM! I win because I already won!
Its already having something before going for it.
By utilizing those past experiences - we are using power feelings to drive our goals for 2016! You get into the winners mentality - you remember what winning felt like - and you use those feelings on your new goals to achieve them. Mind over matter!
Weight lifting is another example. Weight lifters will tell you that sometimes you just get stuck on a weight for a couple of weeks. You try and try and try...you cant break the max weight. Then you take focus off of it - and BAM - you beat the max weight. Not only did you beat it - but a couple weeks later, you try that same max weight and its SO EASY! You have done it before - its easier and your mind tells you "this is easy, you already did it!"
That is where we need to get when visualizing our goals coming into fruitation. We visualize success and dominating our goals - they become reality becuase you have psychologicaly - "been there before!"
