Making Yourself Comfortable

A lot of things come to mind when you think about the issues surrounding conversation, social anxiety, and striking up a conversation.

Many of those things in the mind are insecurities that you are listening to. Insecurities are a bad thing when it comes to conversation because - well - they are lies you believe.

How about this one.

"I feel like others are listening to my conversations and when I walk away, they are going to start making fun of me."

Actually, this couldn't be further from the truth. People don't pay that much attention to what is going around them, especially in social situations. Those people you think that are glued to the words you are saying like a reporter with a recorder, are not really there. They are thinking about themselves, not about the conversation going on when they aren't addressed up front.

Think about it - when was the last time you actually did that? Someone approaches a friend you are with just starts talking to them. Were you really paying attention enough to make fun of them as soon as they left? No! More than likely you asked your friend "what was that all about?"

So whats that mean? The anxiety of approaching a conversation should be marginalized if you are worried about someone listening to your conversations. No one cares - so go talk to someone!

That is the truth and the confidence you need in this situation.
